I think we've just found Peter Capaldi's signature music. Wouldn't that be a surprise?

Metal has a few things going for it in terms of theme music. It's big music; lots of notes, lots of sound, depth of sound. It also has a lot of weight to it; heavy bass, pronounced beats.... AND it combines well with orchestral style arrangements. So if you need a theme that makes it sound like something's gonna happen that's the way to go.

Like the Dr Who theme; it builds in intensity by adding another layer every few bars, giving it great buildup. And when you add the electrics it adds mass. The opening sounds like an army of marching feet, and that driving sound permeates the rest of the piece.

Given the subject matter, it gives me a bit of a Queen Flash Gordon vibe, which is only a good thing.

I wouldn't mind hearing this every week.
