Moffat admits Matt Smith wanted to continue as Doctor

Maybe he's 1/2 joking but splitting a season between Tennant and Smith with a 3 episodes for crossover sounds good to me. They should've thrown in Paul McGann too:

I wish Smith would have stayed

He's way more likable than Tennant and Eccleston combined

in another way Moffat reminds me of JNT he comments that the 2 seemed apprehensive the first time they were on set together as the Doctor - JNT felt the same way about doctors togetehr in 5 doctors so he limted their scenes together till the end

While i like the idea, i'm pretty sure by the time they came up with that idea it was already too late to do that.
I'm just hating this 3 years and they are gone for the Doctor. We really need to have someone go 4 or 5 years in the role.

Yeah, I was thinking it seems a 3 year tenure seems too short. 4-5 years each seems better-more stories & a more satisfying run for the actor.

This seems pretty tongue in cheek to me.

I wish Smith was staying longer as well.

Yeah, I just got used to him and was really feeling like he was in a groove. For some reason I have trouble with letting go every time there's a change.

It took a while, but Smith really made the role his own, and his many little quirks made it fun to watch. I wish he had stayed on for at least a year or two more.
I have a feeling our next Doctor will be a more serious one.

3 years was pretty much the norm in classic who - Hartnell, Troughton, Davison, Colin Baker (though not by choice and only 2 seasons because of the lost year) and Mccoy is really only 2 seasons with the show cancellation (not counting the dark years time between 89 and 96 any more than I count the years for mcgann from 96-2005)

But those of us our 40's to ealry 50's who had Jon and Tom as our first/primary doctors expected all of them to have long runs. I would assume the kids who have Tennant also felt this way
