The Fly, Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea, Fantastic Voyage blu ray

    All came out recently

    Most excited about Fantastic Voyage.

As if we needed proof Raquel Welch can get in a man's blood.

Also newly released is Airplane:2 The Sequel.

I know it's reputation is bad, but for me, it had a lot of laughs. Especially when William Shatner parodies himself (probably fir the first time)

Good movies, all...but I do like VTTBOTS series better than the movie.

I love the Remco Seaview Submarine, it's one of my all time favorite toys, and that made me check out the VTTBOTS series. I watched the movie first because it came on the flip side of my Fantastic Voyage Dvd a few years ago and I thought it was pretty entertaining but that TV show was unwatchable. I've seen paint dry that was more interesting than those episodes. What's worse is I bought all the seasons at once thinking I was going to rip through them like old school Star Trek. I haven't been that wrong since I tried watching Outer Limits thinking it was going to be the second coming of the Twilight Zone. (No TV show has ever put me to sleep faster than every episode I tried to watch of Outer Limits) I think by the fifth episode of season one Voyage I called it quits for good.

I'll definitely have to get that. I've never seen it, but I read Asimov's novelization when I was in the Fifth Grade.

Yeah about that..... One of the things about Fantastic Voyage is that is has a massive plot hole in the film. Asimov was hired after the movie was filmed and pointed it out and adjusted the ending of the book so it worked.

When one of sci-fi's greatest writers, Issac Asimov, was hired to write the novelization of the movie (something to keep in mind if your son is ever contemplating a career as a sci-fi writer) he pointed out the hole to the producers. The producers pointed out that Mr. Asimov could shut the hell up and kept it the way it was.

Asimov went ahead and changed the ending in the book so it made sense. Hollywood, believing revenge is a dish best served cold, waited 40 years and then turned his book I, Robot into a love story between Will Smith and a pair of converse.

You probably watched the first season. Some of the plots of that season are a bit dry, b/c they concentrated more on the spy and espionage stuff than the sci-fi. It's better (IMO) second season and on. Although I do like the first season eps of the pilot, The Fear Makers and the one when they go to the island of dinosaurs, (title escapes me).

I thought the first season was surprisingly serious and often well done. But there is no doubt it took the color and the camping it up (to a reasonable extent, at first then more over the top in the later years) to make it a fun show.

The movie people thought that most knuckleheads, like me, would just accept that the ship was entirely dissolved before it regained it's size. Of course, I realize now that even when things are dissolved that matter is somewhere. Perhaps if they added a line about how the dissolving keeps the matter shrunk. Asimov also balked at the concept of the miniaturized crew sucking in unminiaturized air from the guy's lungs into the ship tanks.

I just wish it weren't on so late! They should start Batman an hour earlier.
