I am only joking. Grint is NOT the Doctor.

And he's only 25, which is two years older than Smith was when he took the role.

But seriously, the real guy was born in '58.
Looking for Green Arrow accessories, Doctor Who Sonic Screwdriver, and Japanese Popy Megos (Battle Cossack and France, Battle of the Planets, Kamen Rider, Ultraman) and World Heroes figures

Yeah I was referring to Peter Capaldi in my post, I don't know who Rupert is.

Don't think he was born in '58. The letter they showed he wrote back in '88 said he was 15 at the time.

            Ask your kids. They'll know.

Good choice, and a bold one.
A lot of the fans I meet at conventions are teenage girls who are smitten with Matt, which will not be the case with this older Doctor.

Personally, I'm quite pleased with the choice. I grew to like Matt Smith a lot, though, so it's mixed feelings...

I could easily see him as the Doctor

                Nice choice

Peter Dougan Capaldi (born 14 April 1958) is a Scottish actor and film director. On 4 August 2013, it was announced in a live special that Capaldi would become the twelfth actor to portray the Doctor on Doctor Who, succeeding Matt Smith. At the age of 55, he is the second oldest actor to portray the character after William Hartnell, who began playing the First Doctor in 1963, also at the age of 55.

Grint, huh? Weasley little choice for a doctor.

Seriously tho; Interesting to see an older doctor this time around. I liked smith, but am OK with change. Looking forward to seeing where this will lead.

A solid choice, looking forward to a more authoratative Doctor, hoping he goes somewhat along the Pertwee lines.
Wow, seems like only yesterday we were on here worrying over a young dashing New Doctor, fretting over the show becoming a romantic comedy or a scifi version of Buffy. Matt turned out to be an excellent Doctor, with an amazing ability to seem older than he looked, plus that elastic face & body that allowed him to be such a physical hero.

I like the character that Matt Smith played, but not as the Doctor. No authority. He would have been better as a wacky companion.

Looking forward to having a "proper" Doctor now though.

So in World War Z Peter Capaldi works as a Doctor in a facility called W.H.O. Coincidence?

I was hoping for a child Doctor. A ten year old or something around that age. Not a teenager, but younger. And not childish stories! An actor that could chill a Dalek to the core! And I don't mean a Doogie Howser style. A child that could act sweet or make you want to run in fear for your life.

I just got home and am just reading this now. Let me wear my Mikey hat for a sec. I don't know who this guy is but the show is doomed.
