Didn't know this. The online game has advanced tho 1701 - F and it's a beast of a ship:

No announcement yet.
Apparently there is an Enterprise F - has been for a year or so.

Active from 2409, apparently (albeit non-canon).
So based on that, the online game says that the Enterprise 'E' was in service for 37 years.PUNY HUMANS!Comment

I find almost al the ST ships that have shown up since TNG to be overdesigned. I think the Enterprise design hit its apex with the TMP refit look. Everything since looks too streamlined and overdetailed, with the Abrams one looking designed by a committee where everyone insisting on the one thing they thought was cool without considering the look overall.Comment

Maybe, but it's also possible that technology has stagnated.... or doesn't develop as fast as we'd think 'cos they're reaching the limits of thought. (Kind of an inverse singularity.) It's possible; especially considering how unimaginative, unambitious, content and conformist the majority of Federation citizens have been since the old OLD new Trek. People with new ideas are almost always demonized on the show. And the other major societies are shown to be at perpetual war (Klingons,) suspicious of new ideas (Romulans,) or kinda dumb and short-sighted. (Ferengi.)
Once you have replicators, what more do you need?
>Everything since looks too streamlined and overdetailed
I think the streamline bit is partly 'cos a lot of the newer stuff is supposed to be capable of planetfall. So.... okay, maybe. (Although if you have antigravity and force shields streamlining is superfluous.) The overdetailed thing isn't a critical problem for me, but yeah; it's noticable. My problem is that it makes newer stuff look LESS advanced than the old.
