Who's going to see Star Trek: Into Darkness this week?

Ok, Without all the bad criticism I've been hearing about the new Star Trek movie, who's going this week to see it? I know I will be sometime this weekend.
Whether its bad or good I gotta go see my Star Trek. Its too important to be missed.

Taking the whole family, we all liked the first one. I liked it better than a few original cast movies.

I'm not big into going to the theater but I will definitely check it out once it hits Blu-ray.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

Me and the boy will try and sneak out and see it. It's a busy weekend, so it may have to wait until next weekend, but we'll be there at some point.

I really liked the first one. I felt it captured the "spark" of Trek that's been missing since Star Trek VI's credits rolled.

I plan on seeing it, but it won't be this weekend because I'll be working Wonderfest. It's my 15th year with them. Seesh! Pretty soon I'll be an exhibit. Yeah, but for all the criticism, I still have to see this new one to decide for myself. I liked the last one. But I haven't been crazy about what I've heard thus far with this one. Of course, as I'm finding out this year, trailer perception doesn't necessarily translate once I get in the theater. But I'll be buying a ticket at first opportunity.

I still haven't managed to see Ironman 3. The reviews have all been great for the new trek, so I expect it will do well. I enjoyed the first one well enough, but man it seemed dumb to me. I really on the fence with this one. I've managed to see all the other Treks in the theater during their first run. This one may break my streak.

Hmmmm. Midnight numbers out for Trek. It only made $2 million (including IMAX screens). That's pretty low. Will be interesting to see what this pulls in. Important for this to do reasonably well for director J.J. Abrams, given he has the steering wheel for Star Wars.

I know some are adverse to 3D, but if you aren't, This film uses the technology better than any since Avatar, imo. Really enjoyed the movie. Big time action, but also great character development. Like the first film it plays with some of the original continuity in clever, fun and emotional ways. I know the midnight takes weren't up to Marvel levels, but Into the Darkness is a better crafted film that taps into some similar themes. It's a fantastic-looking film. Just a thrill to watch.

^^^ Excellent news! Thanks for the brief review. I'll be checking this out when I'm off next week. Glad to hear it's delivering. After the disappointment that was IM3, I need a solid sci-fi film to offset my pain.

I saw it twice already. It's very good. Simon Peg does an amazing Scotty.

All the actors were perfectly cast.

The thing I like about the new Trek, the supporting crew, Uhura, Scotty, Chekov, Sulu, they all do something constructive and important, and at times, they are the ones doing the heroic thing, saving fellow crew members, and even the entire ship like Scotty did (Spock seemed to cover his shortcomings many at times in the old days)...in the old days with the old cast, they were just basically background actors and little more than props.

I have fully accepted this new Trek as the real Trek, I refuse to live in the past, all for the good

He's definitely depicted as a true genius, as he should. Unlike James Doohan's Scotty, who was more like a lovable auto mechanic, lol.
