I liked and disliked the first movie all at the same time. I agree with folks who feel that the reboot has a more Star Wars feel to it, but I will still go and see this one and make a decision for myself. I personally think by keeping the villain a secret, they did more harm than good with the older fan base. I too would have liked to see this go in another direction and continue to spawn new characters, but until I see the movie I really won't know how they handle the actual story.

The silhouette of thast new starfleet vessel looks very "Excelsior" to me. I have seen a pic of what it really looks like. It's garbage.

I went for a walk at lunch today, and suddenly realized why that new poster screamed Star Wars at me:

Really, as much as so many people go one about Abrams bringing the ST franchise back to life, it just seems derivative of like, well, everything.

    (Cue CTC)

Backgound Klingons not taking their helmets off and on will have hair, they say.

Personally, I think if you're going to do a bald Klingon in the reboot, there should be only one, and he should be a young General Chang, whomaybe loses an eye by the end of the movie. If they're going to keep bringing everyone to the story, might as well go all in.
And here I thought Abrams had a secret hair fetish or something. Heck, the Romulans were bald in the last movie.

I hear General Zod will NOT BE Kryptonian in Man of Steel, for fear of insulting other Kryptonians. Instead, he'll be a Urnaian, because no one cares about offending folks from Uranus.

Once again, Trek seems to have been taken away from what Gene Imagined and gave us. The last time this happened, it nearly destroyed the franchise. This new movie may be following that trend. Lets see what it brings, but from what I already know of it, it does not seem like it will. :o(

At least they have cranial ridges. But the lack of hair is perplexing. Maybe it's just that individual Klingon.

So wait. Kahn is in Starfleet? Or is there another villian? I guess I'm kind of confused with the trailer with Pike and Kirk.
