    McQuarrie's Enterprise Study Model

At one time Paramount asked Star Wars painter Ralph McQuarrie to do a version of the Enterprise for either ST - Phase II or ST - The Motion Picture. 2 slightly different study models were constructed. This website has pics one of them in case anyone is interested:

I'm not 100% sure, but I heard a rumour it actually appeared officially in Star Trek

It was one of the trashed starships at Wolf 359 in the Best Of Both Worlds (Next Gen)

I like it! Kind of looks like a Star Destroyer with the saucer and warp nacelles glued on it.

This link has a description of the Planet of the Titans movie along with other Treks that didn't happen. It has the McQuarrie painting of the ship looking larger and with smaller nacelles than the study model. http://www.blastr.com/2011/06/10-unm...trek-proje.php
            It's all good!

The model is also briefly seen in Star Trek III when the Enterprise enters Spacedock. To the lower left you can see a small, shadowy vessel, parked around the other wing of the central Spacedock hub. Most people miss it because the Excelsior is to the right in that scene & grabs all he attention.
