I've been waiting for the third series with Matt Smith to be available on Amazon Prime, so I haven't seen the most recent stuff, yet, but I've liked the last few years of stories. I am looking forward to this. They explained the aging and weight gain for Peter Davison in the special a few back as the body reflecting the time change/ shift and that once he was back in his time again he would shift back...or something like that. I imaging that they would do that for anyone on screen.
    It's all good!

I'm wondering perhaps we'll see all the former Dr Who actors in the show but maybe they'll be playing other characters.

If they did that though the fans would all feel super-cheated

I was just reading earlier ow all we are getting this year is the 8 left over episodes from last year and then 2 specials one 60 min, one 90 min. and no talk of a Xmas Special. where are our 14 episodes for the 50th Anniversary Year? such a big anniversay and we get ripped off.

I have a strange feeling nobody wants to admit but the series is winding down.

Modern British shows seem to wind down pretty fast - even popular ones

Look at Torchwood and Life on Mars

I think the new Who is on it's last leg.

I just hope they don't try and end it

Just let it quietly go off the air with no fanfair and conclusions --- like they did during the McCoy era

I don't think it's anywhere on it's last legs, that's silly. Who is a cash cow for the BBC.

Yeah, DW does rake in a truly crazy amount of money for the BBC.

I'd like them to firmly decide on a format, schedule and episode duration and stick to it season by season.
It bugs me that they constantly change the number or episodes in a season, the duration of the episodes, and when they air.
They tinkered with the show's format in a similar way during the 80s, before it was axed.

Personally I like shorter episodes, multi-part stories, with a cliffhanger at the end of each.

But I acknowledge that the tastes and viewing habits of the TV audience of the 21st century has changed since the old days, along with their attention spans.
                PUNY HUMANS!

actually, I think DW has found a new, much wider audience in America. my daughter even is getting into it watching on Netflix. she's 13. I don't know that she had ever watched it with me before either. with the show becomign so popular over here, i can't see the BBC stopping it, especially since they have written their way around the limited regenerations.

I think the way the show has been played inconsistently as of late is what makes me think the BBC don't care about it as much as they used to.

It would seem if it's their cashcow they would be pumping out episodes left and right.

^ I think that is just the way TV is in general these days. Don't know if anyone has seen "Sherlock", but the cliffhanger they ended with still will not be resolved with a new season for awhile, yet.
                      It's all good!

I Think part of the Problem is Moffat, he had Sherlock to worry about too and was too busy to give DW the priority it deserved and that's why the season was split to give him more time. Meanwhile we lose out on a whole season.

Sounds like we did get cheated because of his other show but I think Docs just hitting his stride in America. At least outside the core sci fi community.

Did anyone see the 1st doctor special on BBC? It was cool seeing a Hartnell ep. The only other one I had seen was Unearthly Child. PBS aired it years ago for some reason.

Agreed, it's a BIG cash cow but if they take it for granted and figure they can do whatever with it then the good Doctor could be in trouble.
