    70,000 years in the making

Just read over on space1970 blog that Korg 70,000 BC is now on DVD.
This is great news for fans of z-grade shlock and caveman related stuff!

Neanderthal and cave-people themes seemed to be big in 1970's sci-fi and I lament the lack of enthusiasm for our ancestors in the popular media today.... where's the cave love?

I have one episode of this on VHS somewhere, I can see why it wasn't succesful with kids. It's pretty dry and (gasp!) mildly educational.

Although I remember watching it back in the day, probably hoping to see dinosaurs.

I recall that every episode the family invented something, usually by observing nature, like one episode they invented the net after observing a spider web. Cave folks have a lot to teach us!

I loved it too, and will add this to my dvd shelf where it will sit next to Quest for Fire.

            No dinosaurs?
            Wow!
            It's even historically accurate!

There were a LOT of shows like that in the 70's. Land of the Lost was originally supposed to be semi-educational, as was Valley of the Dinosaurs. I remember dinos were a big thing in the 70's but can't for the life of me figure out why. Was there a big find at the time, (I know there was the human/stegosaur footprints, but I didn't think that got a lot of coverage.... and that was the late 70's; wasn't it?) or were the Aurora kits just that popular?
