I LOVE the picture in this article with the face off between current and past Cylons. I hope this gets made and that Singer brings something from both the classic and more updated series.

I personally hope it's based solely on the classic Galactica universe only...
But I suspect the production design will probably draw on elements of both, to some extent.PUNY HUMANS! -
^^^ I'm with you. The original premise was the best. And I would like the Cylons to look more like the '78 series. Clearly they can tweak them to look more "today". But hopefully not without losing the essence of what made them so unique. I love that original show because it was sort of like Starsky & Hutch meets Bonanza in outer space. Apollo and Starbuck were the two main heroes that engaged the "bad guys". And when they were done, they went back to the "Poderosa" of the Galactica led by Lorne Greene (Adama). It was cool, yet warm and fuzzy too.Comment

Thats great news,I too hope they stick with the classic Cylon look,I have only seen a few episodes of the new BSG stuff, could not get into it.
No one comes close to commanding the Galactica as Lorne Greene did.I guess I am stuck in the classic universe.

I'm interested in seeing how this develops.
I was initially skeptical about the Moore BG and even skipped the first half season. However once I actually sat down and caught up (I watched a marathon before the second half premiere) I was hooked. In the end Moore's BG was far, far superior to Larson's especially once girl Starbuck was toned down. In fact Moore's BG is one of my picks for one of the best tv series ever.
I say give it a chance. Try to get past the idea that the universe is the same and look at it seperate from the original. If I had only spent a tenth of the time studying Physics that I spent learning Star Wars and Baseball trivia, I would have won the Nobel Prize.Comment

Love the classic BSG series (fond memories of watching it with my Dad), but the Moore BSG is brilliant. Good advice above - just think of it as an alternate version (shouldn't be hard for DC comics fans who are Ok with infinite earths) and enjoy it on its own merits.
IMO - it gets a bit convoluted at the end (kinda doesn't know what it wants to say or how ), but finishes OK.Comment

I like it to but it is just an homage to superman 79, if it had been made 15 years or 20 earlier than I think it would have been better receieved but the modern marvel films (and to some degree batman begins)changed the expectations.
as for this new version I much prefer the original show over the reboot but I know I am far in the minority. Both shows are a refelction of the era in which thjey were made. In the current era we expect flawed heros and excessive plot twists (see LOST) where the original reflects a simpler time where we wanted heroes who were heroic.Comment

^ I liked Superman Returns, but I think he struck out on a few things in it. I do own it on DVD. As for Galactica, I don't have cable but tried to follow the new show. I found I didn't mind reading about what happened with each episode, but I find the episodes themselves are kind of hard to watch. The pacing and the shake cam bother me. I am definitely a child of the 70s, so the writing and pace of the classic show just feel more comfortable to me.
I did watch the new web series Blood and Chrome and that was good, but the story lost me when they throw in all of the flaws and real world commentary. I don't know why in Star Trek that doesn't bother me but in other SciFi it does? It's all good!Comment

You are not alone. Personally, I thought that movie was awesome. Leaps and bounds over Superman 3 or 4. The only complaint I had about the movie was that I felt Kate Bosworth was not the best choice for Lois Lane. Other than that, great movie. Made me feel like I was watching Superman 1 all over again.Looking for:

As for Galactica, I enjoy both honestly. There were a lot of things I got tired of in the new series. I mean, I don't know why they needed other characters in the first couple of seasons, because Starbuck just did everything and was better than the gods at everything she did (that got old real Fracking quick). But once they toned her down a bit my only complaint was that main characters would be best friends one week, then at each others throats the next week, then best friends again... Sometimes they just threw in too much drama I think. But all that being said, I really did like the show. But the original will always be THE Battlestar for me.
Oh, and I look forward to Bryan Singer's version. I would like if he went ahead with his plans that were in place about 10 years ago, and did a sequel to the original series (ignoring Galactica 80 of course). Richard Hatch was also pushing heavily for this in the late 90's - early 2000's. Would love to see what that could have been.Last edited by MegoCapnMike; Dec 18, '12, 4:22 AM.Looking for:

Battlestar Pegasus with Jeff Bridges as Commander Cain would be the way to go. Re-introduce the general public to the classic BSG universe without having to rehash what has been done before.Comment
