    Star Trek: Into Darkness...

Just saw the first official movie poster release over on Cosmic Book News and it seems to me like the Star Trek camp seems to have a little DARK KNIGHT envy going on with this one...

sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.

I really enjoyed the last Trek movie, but that poster is WAY too close to the Dark Knight Rises poster. It almost looks like it belongs to a DKR parody, not a Star Trek flick.

Why can't Hollywood produce good movie posters anymore...that DON'T look like every other poster?

The Classic Trek films had great posters...even when the movies weren't up to par.

This would be a good teaser poster...IF it didn't look exactly like the DKR "bat symbol made out of destroyed building" poster.

          Vallejo is always welcome.

Yeah - WTH? I like that he is holding an invisible can of beer in his left hand, but I didn't realize Neo was part of the franchise.

That's probably where the artist got his inspiration. Alcohol induced uninspired plagiarism...

I really miss the movie posters by the masters like Bob Peake and Drew Struzan. Surely with the proliferation of artists available today (just check out deviantart!), they could find someone with similar styles and mentalities to assign movie posters to. Of course, it could have to do with the studio being cheap and wanting to hire cheap graphic designers (although, with the exception of yours truly), I don't know of many graphic designers who actually work on the cheap any more these days...

I hope the movie moves closer to classic trek than move away.

The first movie hinted it would move closer - but now i'm wondering

The torn up building makes me think of a Borg cube, but I am sure it isn't supposed to be that. Not too impressed with it. I hope the movie has more Trek elements in it than Star Wars or Dark Knight.
                            It's all good!

I think it's very possible this is a prank by Abbrams.

He seems like the kind of person who would do this - like showing the clip on Conan

Having a prank teaser poster would be great
