Never heard of the Investigator before,I have not heard of this one either Paul Starr, another unscreened pilot by Gerry Anderson.I grew up watching all the Supermarionation shows, they used to catch my imagination.

Paul Starr is nothing to do with Gerry Anderson - other than the obvious massive influence.

Ok cool,I just thought it maybe,as it has the sort same feel to it,as the Gerry Anderson shows.

A freind of mine loaned thsi to me one video tape many years ago ... pilot for TV show that was never picked up. If I remeber correctly it was a mix of live action and puppets.

There was a diescast toy made by Dinky around the same time that is based on the vehicle from this TV show, that's how confident Dinky were of Anderson TV shows. When the show didn't come to fruition Dinky simply re-coloured the toy army green, put decals on it, and released it as an "futuristic" army vehicle ... I'll see if I can find an image of it.

Paul Starr was made by Roberta Leigh and Arthur Provis, same people who did the puppet series Space Patrol .. see my avater, that's the main space ship from Space Patrol. Paul Starr was an attempt by Leigh and Provis to do an updated (compared to what they had done in the past) puppet based TV show in colour, but the production values fall well short of anything Gerry Anderson ever did ... and miles short of Thunderbirds. Still Paul Starr is ok to watch, and the space ship is odd enough to be interesting, but the whole show doesn't hold up that well and you can see why no one ever picked up this show to produced a series.

Provis was at some earlier stage a business partner of Gerry Anderson, hence the AP (Anderson / Provis) films logo you see on earlier series like Fireball XL5.

Oops, almost forgot to add that Gerry Andesron had involvement with the early Roberta Leigh TV shows TorchY -the Battery Boy and Twizzle
