Anyone know this old movie?

When I was a kid in the early 70's I remember seeing a movie and the only scene I remember was that there was a time machine and a few people took it back in time and then the "bad' person in the group tried to strand everyone in the past by taking the machine back to the present but in going forward in time he ran into the time machine going back in time - really ran into, they crashed into each other killing him - then the machine reappeared to the people in the past and they were able to take it back to the future. The only other thing I remember ( I think ) was that the time machine was powered by ruby's.

Any of this sound familiar to anyone?

I remember a 1978 TV movie called "The Time Machine" that starred John Beck (probably best known for playing Mark Graison on Dallas). Anyway, I don't remember much of the plot, or the machine being powered by rubies for that matter, but the time machine itself had a triangular shaped base and back - very distinctive and sort of a neat looking update on the original victorian version from the George Pal classic movie. Any chance this is the movie you're talking about?
