Another Time, Another Place, one of my favorites.

I watched Dragon's Domain last night. I thought my kids (8 and 6) would get into it some, but they both didn't really care. We have a couple Matel Eagles we play with, but I guess that wasn't enough of a hook.

I was never into the show when it first came out (was more of a Trek guy)

1999 didn't actually start growing on me until the very early 80's when my local syndicated station started playing them in reruns.

I think they need a little time to get a little older ........

I can picture most episodes to be boring for kids

I hate to say this, but I've never seen Space:1999. It was never syndicated in my area, that I know of. I've heard of it all my life, and never watched it.

My kids have never taken to it but Buck Rogers? They were begging for another episode.

I like the show, grew up with it, but it lacked a little sense of humor, which made Star Trek so enjoyable.
It was like "in space, no one can hear you laugh..."
But I still like the rather cold hard-edge 2001 style of it, especially the early episodes.

That's because Buck Rogers is the Gilligan's Island of Sci Fi

Kids and adults both love it because it's crazy fun

Some humor and action was added during season two. The running joke was Verdeshi's homemade beer which even made Maya turn into Mr. Hyde(literally) in one episode.

If you are so inclined, someone uploaded full episodes to You Tube if yoy want to check it out. Search by the name and titles like Space:1999 Breakaway or DragonsDomain or Guardian Of Piri or Another Time, Another Place, etc.
