    Face Off

First, I did a brief search for any thread on this and did not see one, so I apologize if I missed it.
The series brings together make up hopefuls competing for a chance to make it in Hollywood. It is hosted by Michael Westmore's daughter. He did Trek aliens for years.
In the first challenge of the new season they were asked to create an alien that would fit into a modern update of the Cantina scene from Star Wars. The winner would be featured on the Star Wars website.
Personally I think both of the top 2 should have been posted, and would make great figures too.

    CCC.

My wife and I were originally turned off by the fake drama but the creations are fun to watch and have started tuning in again.

I like the subject matter, but I'm tired of the "elimination show" format. I wish all of these shows weren't EXACTLY the same. But the make-up part is great.
Expectation is the death of discovery.

So much potential for a great show, but the producers are falling into the cliche traps of most reality [sic] tv; the dumbing down of entertainment into a sadistic soap opera. This has essentially been the major flaw in all of the maker-themed shows, with the notable exceptions of Deitch Projects' Artstar from 2006 that actually filmed and broadcasted whole conversations about art, and the zany brilliance of Mythbusters.

Would be great if they would place more emphasis on the creative process, sculpting, mold making, vacuum forming, technical build, paint build, etc.

I only find reality shows in general are tolerable in DVR format, so you can get the meat of the show and avoid the "tension".

I watch the majority of them in fast forward.

Fun to watch the creative/artistic aspects of the show, but it's all fast forward through the personal drama BS.

The things that really annoy me are the extreme overuse of the cymbal swells.

Yeah, I ignore any of the flaws.
I love it hard, because I'm endlessly fascinated by all the creations they make. ENDLESSLY.
