City Beneath the Sea Unaired Pilot

I've seen the actual TV movie a few times but never the 1968 promo reel which is filled with Star Trek guest stars and other prominent 60s character actors.

It's said that Allen was hoping to replace Star Trek with this, this and "the man from the 25th century" pilot show how much Trek raised the bar and made Allen look dated.

I've never seen that either - very cool. It would have been interesting to see the finished product, though I didn't care for the Spock clone (played by the same guy that was Stonn in Amok Time - I guess it didn't work out with T'Pring after all). Anyway, did you, or anyone else, notice that most, if not all, of the background music (and special sound efx) were from Lost in Space? Danger Will Robinson, Danger!

I don't remember that. It does look REALLY low budget in comparison to ST.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

Laurie Holden from The Walking Dead sure favors her father.

That was fan-film worthy LOL. The acting was horrible, the backdrops were child like, and Allen was brave enough to call the chief engineer Irish. Classic Allen.

Maybe that's why it wasn't picked up by NBC as a weekly series?

Frankly, I love the colorful look of it, cheesy or nit.
