Robocop remake news "Robocop’ is a Transformer Who Fights Terrorism"

Wow, that does not sound good.

    Spoilers.

You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

      Hmmmm....

Yeah, that sounds pretty bad. I hate when they feel the need to distance themselves from the source material. If the original's so silly, why remake it? It also sounds like they're doing what the Japanese have been doing for a decade or so; making a hero with multiple forms to better facilitate the sale of toys. It gets bothersome 'cos the new form becomes a copout way of dealing with a problem. "It's Major Baddie! Luckily I have the Hero +2 mod, so I can now defeat him, unlike the first time we fought!" I suspect that's one of the reasons Robocop 3 fell flat. "Oh, he has a jetpack now?"

It also muddies things up. If the technology is familiar enough that you can constantly upgrade it, why aren't there a dozen Robocops?

They contacted a Belgian to play the role, but he refused. At the time I thought he was an idiot to do so, but now I'm thinking he dodged a bullet there

This movie sounds totally like a piece of garbage michael bay movie. The more i hear, the more i won't go anywhere near this pathetic sounding remake. Really getting tired of the need to redo every dang movie ever made. Is there anyone in hollywood who had a decent new idea these days?

Another remake destined to bomb. Why can't they fire these folks who make this big money and give these jobs to rationale folks like us who have good taste?

The first RoboCop is one of my all time favorite movies...what made it great was the great heartfelt soulfulness Peter Weller brought to the character as Officer Alex Murphy...the sadness of him being "killed"...and brought back as mostly machine...then he goes after the baddies who "killed" him...and successfully wins the day. Yes, it was ultra violent...but that's what made the movie work...and I'll buy that for a dollar.

Maybe they should have contacted Frank Miller.
