I like both movie versions and miniseries , never read the books .

Though the sand worm toy was cool .

I read the first couple of books, and yeah, bit of a chore to get through. The movie, however, was pretty good, but like Nostalgiabuff said, the SciFi Channel miniseries was better.

I remember when the Dune toys came out they failed really bad.

I still think the action figures arent worth anything

Dune is NOT by Hubbard! Frank Herbert wrote the Dune series, and many other really trippy SF books. I love Lynch's movie and actually think it's very true to the book.

I read the book. Damned near took me forever. Ron L. Hubbard is a very verbose author, and takes forever to get to the point!

I've seen both the director's cut and the theatrical version of the movie. Oddly enough, I preferred those versions to the revamped mini series that was on TV. It just didn't have the same 'oomph' that the first one did.

Of course, they didn't have Sting in it (especially that scene where he steps out of the steam chamber in those teeny skivvies!), so I may be a bit biased.

I've read the first book and like Lynch's movie. I imagine most "real" fans of the novel would disagree, but I like the weirding modules. Cool concept.

I know I am in the minority on this, but I really like Lynch's "Dune". Then again, I have never read the books either.

started a topic What's up with Dune ?

    What's up with Dune ?

I've always wondered where Sci Fi fans stand on the movie Dune.

Personally, I never read the book and thought the movie was kinda boring (sorry)

It seems people have kind of mellowed on it as the years go by

So, what do you think of Dune ?
