R.I.P Doctor Who's Mary Tamm

It's a bad time to be a Doctor Who companion. First Liz Sladen, now Mary Tamm. It's too soon to go at that age.
I loved her as Romana, but she didn't get the stories she deserved. Somebody as intelligent and witty as Romana should have had more dialogue than "save me, Doctor, I'm falling off a cliff!"
Oddly enough, I had pre-ordered her autograph for an upcoming convention..

I looked it up and yep, Caroline John did pass away on June 12th of this year at age 72. She appeared in a major film in recent years.
"Her most recent film role was in the Richard Curtis film Love, Actually, in which she played the gran of little drummer boy Sam."

I met her once at a Sci-Fi convention in Springfield, Mass, in 1995. She was very nice. She actually talked to me for some time as the only item I had for her to sign was my program and she wanted to read her entire bio. It turns out the con made a lot of mistakes in writing it.
Very sad news.Comment

I'm sad to hear this too.
Out of all of the companions, she was one of my favorites. The only other Time Lord to accompany the Doctor on his travels, and I was royally p.u.'ed when she was replaced by Lalla Ward.
I didn't even know that she'd been sick; the poor thing.
My condolences to the family, she was a great actress and from what I've heard, she was first class.JediJaidaComment
