Star Trek question (where is Engineering ?)

Was thumbing through my original StarFleet Technical Manual and it said Engineering is in the primary hull behind the impulse engines... This seems logical considering the view behind the grating seems to be big engines.

But, I always assumed it was down in the bowls of the secondary hull.

Is Engineering (specifically the area we see on TV) really in the back of the saucer ?

Main engineering is in the secondard hull, probably the bottom of it.

                Hmmmm....

Secondary hull, deck 19.... although the later upgraded one was actually two level high. Probably between the engine pylons, just ahead of the shuttle bay.

It's weird because that red glowing chamber behind Scotty always thought was the guts of the impulse engines at the back of the saucer. I choose to believe there was an engineering section for the impulse engines and one for the warp engines.

Like Main Engineering was the central location and secondary Engine rooms for each of the warp nacells, right next to the janitor closet!

And before I realized that that was an impulse engine on the back, I thought it was a couple of big windows.

I pretty sure that due to Scotty's constant battle with alcoholism....JJ's enginnering is now a brewery.

Note - "PRIMARY HULL" at top .........

Also note TWIN IMPULSE POWER units.
