    Event Horizon

Saw it again last night on cable...

    I love that movie...very Alienesque...great sci-fi horror flick.

It was originally panned by the critics, and was a box office bomb.

Good to see that it's now considered a semi-cult classic...I think it deserves it.

    Anybody else digs it?

Oh my... I don't have anything strictly against this movie but I thought it was pretty bad. I remember one scene where Sam Neil is done up in some pretty awful makeup and has some sort of harp-oon(sorry filter) gun thing, I remember laughing out loud at the ridiculousness of it all. I suppose I have some favorite movies that others would find pretty poor though, so to each their own.
I just had to comment because that one scene is totally burned in my memory.

I really like this movie as well, even though it turned from a great sci-fi movie into more of a hellraiser style movie. Still a fun ride if you like horror.

I thought it was good. It was more Horror than SF. What I think irked a lot of SF fans is the ship tried to go to hyperspace and engaing the drive opened the door to hell or something,(?). I think they needed to work that plot point out some more. SF fans were kind'a appalled that if you go to hyperspace you go open up hell instead, lol. One of the actors is the son of Doctor #3, Jon Pertwee.

I found the film so-so but I remember thinking the effects were remarkable.

It's a great movie. I've seen it at least five times already.

Put me down as someone who likes Event Horizon as well. Decent story and the effects aren't a let down. It's not a great movie, but good, and I usually will watch it if it's on.

It's been a long time since I've seen it, but from what i remember, it is a pretty good sci-fi/horror flick. And if you're a fan of EVENT HORIZON and have never watched Danny Boyle's SUNSHINE, you should check that one out, too...
