Leonard Nimoy hints he might be in the Trek sequel

Ain't It Cool News: The best in movie, TV, DVD, and comic book news.

    Retirement, hah!

He's like Godfather 3 Michael Coleone "Everytime I try to get out, they pull me back in."

I really hope it's true! I'd be happy with just a small cameo with the Enterprise stopping at the new Vulcan colony...and young Spock & old Spock getting to talk to each other one more time.

Outside of the LOTR films, the new Star Trek is my favorite film of the last decade. I don't know that they need to include Nimoy again as the cast can stand alone now, but I'll trust in Abrams.
I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she dumped me before we met.

If anyone here believes in psychokinesis, please raise my hand.

Would be neat to see Shat in this one

The old crew is getting VERY old now --- it would be nice to honor them with at least bit parts before they pass away

            Agreed, that would be awesome.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

I'm all for Nimoy returning as "old" Spock as it is in the new continuity but I would really appreciate a story that doesn't involve time travel. IMO they've done a brilliant job at revamping the franchise without completely forsaking the original so I would hate to see all of the goodness that's been created here just turn into the same old same.

I don't think a "time travel" story alone would constitute an error in that
regard... unless it flat out stunk.

I'm shocked at all the parallel universe acceptance the reboot was greeted
with... I feel that after that... as long as there was the right combo of
actors, action, and script they could have a billion "obvious retreads" and
                it wouldn't matter.

Agreed. The beauty of the "alternate timeline" is that they can now use old characters and Villains, but the plot doesn't have to follow the original story.

Nimoy should join Cher on her "Farewell Tour".
