Battlestar Galactica $3 at Big Lots...

It was only the plot movie and not a full season but man what a deal. I watched it as soon as I got home tonight and talk about a sweeping rush down a launch tube! I really forgot how much I loved the show as a kid. Being that my folks weren't the movie going type I was actually introduced to BG before Star Wars and loved it.

All these decades later it still grabs my imagination and honestly it pleases my visual senses more that the original '77 Star Wars. Also to note now that I'm older I really appreciate the story a whole lot more. Sure there was some plot points that were a bit sloppy but so what? It was a clever story, told well, looked amazing and featured Lorne Greene; America's best TV dad ever!

I am even more eager now for the BBP figures than I was as a kid wishing Mego had made them!

      Loved BG... still do.

First saw the pilot-movie version at the drive-in in Canada, then caught the extended 3 episode version on TV when it was broadcast.

Still my favourite TV show of all time.

I remember watching the 3 hour pilot movie when it first aired on tv - it was inturrepted by the signing of the Camp David Accords. Luckly the network finished the show without skipping anything but it was pushed back around half an hour.

I still haven't forgiven my step-dad for making me watch a Hee-Haw rerun when it was first aired. I was on cloud nine all week waiting for it and when we sit down to watch it, he turns on Hee-Haw. No amount of begging would change his mind. I was scarred for life.

Yeah---it's those childhood traumas that always leave the deepest scars. I imagine, to this day, the thought of Buck Owens and Roy Clark probably still has a debilitating effect on you....?
sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.

I never knew they released the movie on DVD without the rest of the series.

I know they did on VHS because I used to have it

              interesting

Yep, it's had at least two DVD releases, with different cover artwork.

Even with all the extra footage in the 3 part TV broadcast version, there are still a couple of cool snippets exclusive to the theatrical movie version.

I have both the TV series set and the Movie DVD. The movie one is has the edits from the Sensoround version that was released in the US after the show was cancelled.
                  It's all good!

I enjoyed the original series a lot. I can remember begging to not go to cub scouts because it was the same night that Battlestar Galactica was on.

I have the new series on Blu-Ray. Ahhh... HD bliss....
