I miss Doctor Who in the 80's

I like the new series and it's very popular but it don't have the magic of Dr Who in the 80's ...

I'm not talking about only Dr Who's produced in the 80's --- I'm talking about being a fan in the 80's

    Does that make sense ?

I was hardcore Who back in the late 80's. In two fanclubs (Two Hearts Ltd and The Unofficial Harry Sulivan Fan Club), edited the newsletter for one of them for a bit, we helped man the phones for PBS pledge drive & worked the DW USA Tour (a trailer with a TARDIS console, many foes behind glass, K-9 and Bessie!), twice helped promote DW and the club in local papers.

I never did that much for Trek!

I know what you mean. I used to stay up to watch it on PBS every weekend growing up. I'll never forget how much fun I had. I always wanted some of that Doctor Who swag they offered for being a donor to help with funding the channel.

There was a feeling of Doctor Who taking America in the `80's; exploding on the scene.

I disliked most of the episodes of Doctor Who that were made in the 80s, unfortunately...It got to the point where bad episodes far outnumbered the good...But I was a fan in the 80s.

I got into Doctor Who in the 80's. PBS reruns of the 4th Doctor eairly in the morning. I'd get up and turn on the fuzzy station and watch quietly. Later I had a small B&W tv by my bed and I'd wake up roll over and turn it on. I still love Classic Who better then the new Who - even though I reall liked the Tennant run.

Yes, i am not the only fan who had to stand by the controls and have his picture taken.
Who was that lady and who was she dressed as?

You mean this lady? These are from the 2010 Boston Comic-Con. I don' know who she is or why she dressed like this. But I was thankful!

Makes me wish I were that thin again.

I love this variation on the diamond logo. The Tardis extruding up out of it is a great idea.

                            I am with you Mike,
it was special to be a who fan. Not everyone got it and here in the states is was a niche show. The only merchandise we had was Books, Dr Who weekly/monthly, and tardis key's. I loved going to the creation conventions Meeting Tom, Jon Pertwee (who always showed up in costume). The stars seemed to get how special we thought they were Autographs were free and they gave you time to talk and feel special. I never felt that at a Star trek convention back then.

I remember those days fondly still.
