Back in the 60's after Season-1 of Trek, Nichelle was going to quit being Uhura but Martin L King talked her into remaining because --- (all of the below)
1. She was a great roll model for women
2. She was a great roll model for black women
3. She was a great roll model for all black people
4. He and his kids loved Star Trek

It would have been great if Whoopi Goldberg had posed with them too. Nichelle was a big inspiration to Whoopi when she went into acting. I think they met on set when she appeared in ST-TG season 2.
