Good news everyone! According to a thread on the Blu-Ray discussion forum (forum.blu-ray.com) the remastering process was completed for Outland earlier this year. This is a movie I'd love to have on Blu-Ray, given the hideous non-anamorphic DVD that is the only thing available today.

Its a an okay film nothing special I never bought the Sean Connery as a space sheriff thing but I guess a Blu Ray release is warrented!Last edited by kennermike; Mar 15, '12, 12:56 PM.Comment

I thought Connery did OK in this one...the only performance that made me a little queasy was that of the actor playing his son.
A lot of the guys who worked on Blade Runner and Alien also contributed to Outland, which accounts for the production design looking like it's in the same universe as those movies. The shuttle design in particular was pretty cool.
Granted, it's not a masterpiece, but it beats the hell out of a lot of '80s sci-fi.Comment

I like that film.
Fans of exploding heads can enjoy the explosive decompression effects, and fans of English theatre can watch Steven Berkoff going berserk in small role.Comment

There's some excellent model and matte work in that movie.
Glad it's getting the Blu-ray treatment.PUNY HUMANS!Comment

It's not a ground-breaking new story, but a solid SF thriller. One of the first DVDs I bought..

I like that Outland is being released but am jazzed that Altered States is also coming out!Comment

Altered States was really bad too, lots of compression artifacts. It was one of the early DVD's. Will be glad to see both.Comment
