The problem with scify is that there is a rich supply of cheesy sci-fi and horror movies of the past and yet they feel they have to make their own.

And when older cheesy movies had bad effects they had character (hastily made miniatures, a kooky rubber suit, etc) and the bad CGI effects in scify's modern cheesy movies just looks synthetic.

Sci-Fi was awesome in it's early years. Syfy really sucks.

BBC America has a better selection of sci-fi and fantasy style shows.

I pretty much stopped watching Scifi (syfy) when I saw how bad Flash Gordon was. A great property like that and they dont even try.

Back in the day it was better when cable channels had their own theme ... Sci Fi Channel, Music TV, TV Land etc

Today everything is all blended together into a bland mix of crap

All channels are almost the same now

Really liked it for the new battlestar galactica but it seems that was the last really good show on it (to me anyway). You would think they would do a night with classic horror or Scifi like they have on MeTV but they dont even bother. Another waste of cable programming now.

Back when it was great of course my cable company didn't carry it.

They only picked it up when it started getting crappy

First year they had the Christmas marathon of classic Battlestar, I taped every one. Used to look forward to their all day Batman marathons too. Like many have said, I used to turn it on and leave it on.

I swear, my VCR hardly ever stopped recording. I hardly even bother w/ it anymore. If something isn't broke, don't fix it. That channel is CRAP now. There's more than one retro channel, there should be more than one science fiction channel!
    That's exactly how I was...always watched it......now I don't ever look

To me, the SYFY Channel is the reason why science fiction was considered a backroom hobby before Star Wars. The average person thought it was mindless stories coated in really bad dialogue with silly costumes. Well, that pretty much sums up that channel.

I still watch Merlin. Its cheesey in a Xena warrior princess/ Hercules way, but I still enjoy it. Even the ghost hunters and Ghost hunters International is getting old. I haven't seen a good episode since they visited THE STANDLEY HOTEL. I miss Farscape. Nuthin new or really worth watchin.
I think Sanctuary is all reruns now...Warehouse thirteen is becomming quite pedestrian. Lost Girl is new and not too hard to watch.
StarGate Universe didn't get to finish its season...I hate it when they do that.
I still watch Being Human but am becoming bored with it.
Finally Eureka is finishing out its series in a couple weeks.

Used to watch " SyFy" all the time back when they played "60's Batman, had Dr. Who and the new Battlestar was on. After BSG and Who where gone I watched less and less, until I stopped watching all together.
