    Thunderbirds 2086

I had completely forgotten that this was actually my first exposure to the Thunderbirds and their vehicles.

I was heavy into Fanderson at that point, I remember Gerry Anderson making sure everybody knew he had nothing to do with it.

Lots of little ITC injokes in that show including Space:1999 sound fx, "Moonbase Alpha-Beta" and an episode where a guy gets thrown in prison and yells "I am not a number, I am a free man!"

The repackaged for the American market original series on VHS had a similiar opening (computer grid graphics) released in the mid 80's

Those movies weren't specifically for the VHS market, they were for syndication into the burgeoning cable market (the supermarionation movies were staples on Nickelodeon back in the day).

I think the opening credits for "Thunderbirds in Outer Space" has a montage of Anderson ships flying by, including an Eagle!

              Really ?

I never knew they were made for syndication too.

The only Thunderbirds TV show I remember was the 80's half hour show that mixed real kids with clips from the classic series.

They were done in 1980 and I have most of them taped off TV from 3AM timeslots. They almost all saw VHS release but not through the same companies, I collect this stuff so I'm kind of anal about it, this is right off the top of my head but here is a list of shows and number of syndicated movies:

                UFO 1
                Space:1999 4
                Captain Scarlet (1 or 2- can't remember)
                Stingray 2
                Joe 90 1
Thunderbirds 4 (not including theatrical movies)

                Non Anderson:
                Champions 1

I remember the Captain Scarlet one, I used to have it.

I kinda remember it had an episode that had a tall parking garage in it.

I never knew they made others ...

                    That's the pilot episode, yeah.

What's weird is, they released these movies and then pulled the episodes out of regular syndication. So if your local channel played Space:1999, they couldn't show Breakaway, Black Sun, Metamorph, Bringers of Wonder 1&2 etc.

The TV movie prints were FAR cleaner than the syndicated prints but it was kind of a bummer. Many of the 1999 TV movies have newly filmed scenes or explainations that it's "the year 2100". woooooo

I remember this being shown on Showtime in the early 80's.
