    TNG Generations movie

Anyone else here can't stand the Generations movie ?

Not just because Kirk died, I can name a million reason why I don't like it.

I'll start out with one less obvious reason --- Unlike the Classic Crew, the TNG crew didn't pay their dues by waiting at least 10 years for a possible movie ...

Worst Star Trek Movie EVER! The plot was horrible, the acting was even worse, and Seriously! Kirk's final words are "It was... fun." C'Mon Man!

Kirk was badly written in that movie. The scenes on the Enterprise B weren't bad, but anytime after that he was way too...dandy-ish? It made Picard look like an ineffectual sissy standing around yelling at McDowel while he succeeded in his plan too. "Now you stop that! I said stop that! Please?"

It was a bad idea all the way around. I remember Peter David ripping it in Comic Buyer's Guide back in the day. TOS get great threats like the Doomsday Machine, Kahn, etc. TNG gets "THE RIBBON!!!"

It's not a great movie but it had some good moments.

I kinda sorta get teary eyed when my Enterprise blows up...

First Contact however, is my favorite Trek movie.

What I took from this movie, Picard needed Kirk to punch a guy for him.

              Hmmmm....

I didn't think it was horrible, but I found it to be REALLY blah; especially considering how much was happening in it.

Well said. Even old, paunchy Kirk was tougher than trim Picard. I will admit to getting a bit misty eyed when Kirk died. In hindsight, he deserved a better death (if he HAD to die, which he didn't). Originally, Soran shot him in the back. Apparently test audiences balked, so reshots were done.

Shooting Kirk in the back I could have dealt with better than being trapped under a bunch of junk saying, "It was... fun".

Biggest problem I had with Kirk's death,it pretty much screwed up how they set things up in ST V. The whole thing about when he dies,he'll be alone when it happens. I guess they're telling you in Generations,Picard isn't really there.

Well, he was alone in the sense that Spock and Bones weren't there. I thought that aspect actually worked. And since Nimoy and Kelly declined to be in the opening on the Enterprise B, that death worked as well.

Honestly, I'd rather Kirk HAD died on Enterprise B if they had to kill him.

it wsa really slow moving too. it came across as a boring 2 part episode. actually, with the exception of first contact, all the TNG movies came across that way

One thing that let me down was the SFX

From the cheap TV effect of the Enterprise warping away to the reuse of the Trek-6 Bird of Prey blowing up.

It's like Generations was just a regular TV episode (and not a very good one)

"All Good Things" would have made a better movie

I liked parts of it more than I like the movie as a whole. And I think the saucer section crash was one of the best sequences in a Trek movie. But as a whole the movie was blah.
