Well one thing is for sure, it can't be called Space 1999 in the year 2012. Maybe "Moonbase Alpha". -

How great would it be if they did, though? Sort of like the Conan bit where they would look to the far future... all the way to the year 2000!!!.... and after the year 2000 came and went, they stuck with the date.Comment

To make this work I think they will have to avoid re-making any stories from the original show. If they do episodes about ghosts and stuff it will fail. They are going to have perhaps ground it more in settling the Moon, exploring the solar system and possibly, *horror* the politics of people settling in colonies off the Earth. Maybe even like new Battlestar Galactica was in some ways. No run-a-way moon plot in this one. I think audiences wouldn't accept that., It would be great if they discovered an accessible wormhole just outside the Moon's orbit-but that's been done already so...Comment

It's going to be called Space:2099 apparently. I'm a bit nervous about it, but apparently the fellow behind the remake, Jace Hall is a fan (he also did the V reboot)...

Hmmmm....
COULD they REALLY do a reboot? A big part of the original was the look.... past the 70's chic it was a fairly generic space opera. I can't see a new version maintaining enough of that to make it feel like an actual 1999 redo; I rather suspect it's gonna feel like just another series with but a tenuous tie to the original.
