    Galactica (both original and remake)
    Trek - TOS
    Buck Rogers
Does Johnny Soko count? The villian was from somewhere out there and Giant Robot takes off into space at the end. But I guess since it takes place on earth, it doesn't count!

    1) SPACE:1999, STILL my all-time favorite show.
    2) Land of the Giants (well, they traveled in space in a couple of eps..)
    3) Lost In Space, 1st and 3rd years ROCK for different reasons..
    4) Trek-Next Gen, still a big Riker-Data-Worf fan..
    5) Trek-TOS and TAS, I still consider TAS the 'fourth season' of TOS, at times better quality than the third season of TOS (no space-hippies or space-angels commanding kids to take over the Enterprise..).
    6) Firefly
    7) Galactica (1978)
    8) Tom Baker's Fourth Doctor

Buck Rogers in the 25th Century
    Doctor Who
    Star Trek TOS
    Jason of Star Command

Nothing else since has ever come close.

My list of favourite space themed cartoons would be longer.

The original Star Trek. Also a big fan of the animated Star Trek from the early 70's...the books were especially good. Battlestar Galactica and Lost in Space too.

A side note I could never get into Star trek the Next Generation even when it premiered in 1987 .but I have a huge amount of respect for Patrick Stewart a true trained Shakesperean actor

started a topic What are your favorite Space-oriented TV shows?

What are your favorite Space-oriented TV shows?

If you had to rank your favorite space-themed TV shows, what would that list look like? Here are mine:

    1) Lost in Space - I know some folks consider this series camp. And I would have to agree if we only examined season three. But I will always consider season one (in black and white) to be one of the best science fictions shows ever made. The technology felt real and seemingly grounded on what we could possibly accomplish - The Jupiter 2, the Robot, the Chariot, Space pod - All well designed and hold up even by today's standards. John Robinson was one of my first heroes (next to Spidey). His father-knows-best approach coupled with a believable tone for authority still works when I watch it today. He is the real deal. And who can argue the soundtrack supplied by a then very young "Johnny" Williams? One of the classic soundtracks in television history.
    2) Star Trek - While some of the technology used in that show actually influenced our lives, the real charm of this series remain, of course, the chemistry between Kirk, Spock, and Bones. Without them, all of the philosophical themes debated and mimicked through the decades would have been pointless. And where would warp speed be if the grand ole Enterprise didn't lead the pack?
    3) Battlestar Galactica - If you could take Starsky & Hutch and put them in outer space, that was essentially how I saw Starbuck and Apollo. Great chemistry and buddies we all would want if we were flying a fighter in space. It didn't hurt they had the coolest looking villains of all time with the Cylons. Oh, how I wanted a Mego Cylon. BBP have answered those prayers.
    4) Buck Rogers - That was a fun show that had some great villains as well. I loved the look of that show back then. Tigerman was so cool. And Hawk was a character I would love to see Mego-ized. And who didn't embrace Twiki? Never thought I could take a character seriously that was voiced by Mel Blanc. At least for a season anyway. Never cared for Bob Elyea who took over the vocal duties afterwards.
    5) Star Trek: The Next generation - This was the last of the Treks I could watch. Patrick Stewart is such a gifted and charismatic actor, I enjoyed watching his body of work on that show and pretty much everything since. Glad to see him getting the Mego treatment as well.
