I don't know if anyone has chimed in on this but consider the matter of talent......

Fisher penned several bestsellers, earned millions from film rights and script doctoring.........

Shatner? This dude hired ghostwriters, took byline credits for horrible Star Trek novels and his silly Tek series.....

    Consider that.....

"What does my boyfriend think of me..??"

Um.., didn't he wonder the same thing..?

Shatner commenting about Carrie needing lift..??? I'd venture he'd need it more than she would.

I got to meet ol' George (and Walter Koenig) back in '77 at a local sci-fi con here in Milwaukee. George was definitely MORE the friendly, outgoing type.

Excellent video, warp-power to ya George..!!

I think one of the reasons Fisher might get judged more harshly, is because she really hasn't been in the public eye.

We've seen the Shat age and expand over the years.
He has been in movies and TV shows, as well as commercials and everything else over the years.
We have watched the changes and adjusted to them. To the point where when you think of him, your mind goes immediately to his current shape.

Fisher, OTOH hasn't been in the public eye.
When her name is brought up, my mind pictures her, as she was in the SW movies. So, seeing the current her, conflicts with what my mind expects.

^^ Dirk Benedict from the original Galactica blogged about something like that a few years ago. If I recall correctly, he met some fan at the hotel he was staying at and she proclaimed at the top of her lungs something like "what happened to you?" We do get an image in our brains of how someone should look and then are surprised when time happens.

                It's all good!

Takei is absolutely the mostly likable person from classic Trek ... Perhaps of ALL Trek

                    Oh yeah.
                    Great example.
I saw him at WF a few years back, and couldn't believe how harsh the years had been to him.
A very jarring dose of reality.
Because I haven't seen him in anything since like the A-Team.

Not that I have ANY room to talk, but time has been harsh to many a "sex symbol"

When I saw Gil Gerrard at Comicon, yeah.....

However, Erin Grey still looks amazing!
