I got to meet ol' George (and Walter Koenig) back in '77 at a local sci-fi con here in Milwaukee. George was definitely MORE the friendly, outgoing type.

Funny how Fisher gets all the physical hate...and not Shatner.

There's no need to judge women more harshly than men...they are both aging pudgy actors...you either like both equally...or hate them both...that's the way it should be.

I think one of the reasons Fisher might get judged more harshly, is because she really hasn't been in the public eye.

We've seen the Shat age and expand over the years.
He has been in movies and TV shows, as well as commercials and everything else over the years.
We have watched the changes and adjusted to them. To the point where when you think of him, your mind goes immediately to his current shape.

Fisher, OTOH hasn't been in the public eye.
When her name is brought up, my mind pictures her, as she was in the SW movies. So, seeing the current her, conflicts with what my mind expects.

If I recall correctly, he met some fan at the hotel he was staying at and she proclaimed at the top of her lungs something like "what happened to you?" We do get an image in our brains of how someone should look and then are surprised when time happens.

I saw him at WF a few years back, and couldn't believe how harsh the years had been to him.
A very jarring dose of reality.
Because I haven't seen him in anything since like the A-Team.
