Peter Pan is an interesting character in terms of copyright...
He's public domain in some countries and still under the original copyright in others. In the UK, the original Peter and Wendy are under an extended copyright.
In 2004 Disney published sequels to the original novel, Peter & Wendy without permission and without paying royalties, since the copyright issue was so murky in the USA.
In short, with the tweaking of many of the fable characters origins, I can see SOMETHING being done with Peter Pan. At the very least one of the side characters of Peter Pan, like Wendy or one of Capt Hook's pirates... similar how we got a story on Geppetto and Jiminy Cricket without so much as a mention of Pinocchio.
