    Spectreman

Did anyone watch this on WTBS (now known as TBS) in the late 1970s - early 1980s? It was a Japanese series produced in the 1960s.

    The intro:

PS. A few years ago I had the Marmit Spectreman DX (deluxe) 1:6 scale action figure.

    Hmmmm....

I didn't see it until I was at the U: a video rental place went under and had a bunch of old tapes for sale. Great stuff! Well.... in that it's awesomely weird. The show itself is pretty bad: it looks like someone's highschool film project.

NOTE: I was gonna post pics of my Dr Gori custom Mego, but the string I used for his body snapped and I gotta fix it....

Spectreman, Space Giants, Johnny Sokko & His Giant Robot, Ultraman! So glad I got to see these on my local Philly UHF channels back in the day. As a kid, I would have loved Megos of the heroes and monsters from these shows.

Those tapes just seem to appear in my area around 1989 and I was hooked! The cheeky dialouge combined with the budget effects made my heart sing.

I got to meet the late, great Mel Welles in the 90s and gushed about my love of Spectreman, he stared at me like I was the paint section at Sears, shook his head and mumbled "kids" to himself while signing something for me.

I loved this show. However, I never could convince any of my friends in the Cincinnati area it really existed. Nobody around here ever saw it. These are the same people who thought I was making up Pulsar. I guess it was never distributed around here.

Any chance of Spectreman DVD boots?

Yeah, I think Spectreman DVD bootlegs are prevalent. At this point, it may even have an official release. I haven't look in a few years.

I used to watch it. I liked it, but not as much as Ultraman.

Nada, still no official release, you have to get the bootlegs

I never saw Spectreman on TV, my first introduction was in the early 90's when my friend showed me a VHS prerecord of the show. Great stuff!

Watched it some when I was a kid. Unlike my best friend, I never could get into it. I liked Space Giants better. Go figure.
