This is the Problem with the 2009 Star trek it opens the door for "alternate histories" on great franchises

I agree with mike The cushing film aternate history who is not a path we need to walk down again

and if SW ep 1-3 don't teach the perrils of the prequel surely Star Trek Enterprise did

Here's an idea cast Paul Mcgann and make a film in the actual who timeline. There isn't a regeneration scene into Eccleston so the age difference since the 96 film won't be an issue, he is already an established actor with big screen experience and the years haven't been unkind to him.

        Hmmmm....

Two words: "Abslom Daak." It drives me nuts when something old is appropriated just for the name. If you're not gonna bother with the ACTUAL established story, then why not do a side one? Or detail something that we HAVEN'T seen from the setting. (Dear Trek: I'm sure cool stuff happens to ships NOT named "Enterprise.")

I agree about a Paul McGann movie.

The Time War is a perfect Movie Theatre quality plot.

Only prob would be the studio not wanting to use McGann himself because he isn't big enough for the starring role.

Only solution would somehow write a plot where the 8th Doctor dies at the beginning and regenerates into an 8.5 Doctor --- See the fan produced 2.5 Doctor

If they continue the current trends, the Doctor will now be played by a 15 year old.
He's going to Time Lord school, but he doesn't like it one bit!
All he want to do is stay at home and play with his type 39 Tardis. Which he breaks by trying to download "Romana's backdoor adventures volumes 1-9".
He'll then spend half an hour complaining to his mother why he really really needs a type 40 ("It's even bigger on the inside, mom!!!!").
As he's not getting it, he steals one, helped by his obnoxious nerdish friend, who insists being called The Mighty Master...
            .
            .
            .

Whedon had nothing to do with Trek, it was JJ Abrams. And its a well done rework of the concept. The Trek sequel is rumored to include Klingons and TRIBBLES!!!

peter cushing played the doctor in the 60s movies which had nothing to do with the tv series. i would like the movie to develop the doctor a bit more now. much in the vein of superman , who could only leap a building in a single bound then devloped the flying aspect of the character....

I would like it to be quite a dark movie. The master being the villian of the movies , much in the vein of harry potter and valdermort.

this could be quite good if they can get it right....the right actor is needed though.

I'm new to Doctor Who (since 2005) and don't really care to know his exact origin. The mystery of who he really is, is a major part of the character's appeal. I don't want to know everything about him. Besides Tom Baker (who I've been watching occasionally), David Tennant is my favorite Doctor. If he was going to do the movie, I'd go see it, but I still don't want to see an origin story.

2009 Star Trek was AMAZING and so was Enterprise. Anything that can get my girlfriend to watch Star Trek with me is gold. Both those things did that.

She also loves Dr Who. Thank you very much David Tennant. When she heard they were going to make a movie she told me very matter of factly that no force on Earth would stop her from seeing it opening day.

The Star Wars prequels only suck because Lucas should have let others handle it. But if you played the Old Republic video games you could see how it should have been.

I don't have the time, inclination or gaming system to devote to mastering a game series to get the 45 minutes of "footage" (the last game system I bought was a sega cd in 1989)

we'll agree to disagree about enterprise
