    RoboCop-1987 Blu Ray

I just picked up this Blu Ray for 3 bucks ! yes 3 Bucks I thought I was in Bizarro world cant wait to see the transfer .any fans?

I was in HighSchool when it came out Kinda over the top like all Paul Verhoven films but well done Peter Weller was Brilliant as Murphy/Robocop. I also love Basil Poledouris score pulse pounding! I cant believe this came out Summer of 1987 24 years ago!

didnt care for any of the sequals or the live action tv show and animated cartoon

Great movie. I saw this at the theatre about 5 times when it came out back in '87.

The extra violent Criterion Collection director's cut DVD is especially cool.

I was so into RoboCop back in the day...that I actually paid $80 for a brand new just released VHS copy of the movie...those were the crazy 80s...

I haven't seen it in years. I really liked it back in the 80s, and it was a multiple rental. It took a while for me to get over Kurtwood Smith's role here on That 70s Show. I kept expecting him to slaughter Eric!!!

The Criterion dvd version is cool with the extra violence. The ED-209 goes nuts and shoots Mr. Kinney in the boardroom for like three minutes straight. Classic!

Ah yes, rental pricing for most new release VHS movies. I don't miss those days at all.

Does anybody know if the Blu Ray has the Directors Cut? or maybe the theater version and Directors cut are included together?

Love the extra violence version, where you see Murphy's hand explode, and the extra ED209 squib hits.

Bizarrely, when the film was first released here in Oz (at the cinema), all the swearing was cut out, and replaced with cleaned up alternatives... yet the gore was all there.
Has anyone else seen this bizarre version?

I know their doing a remake of this film, which I think is completely unnecessary. Robocop is not only unique for it's time period, but also because of the specific style and WIT from it's director, Paul Verhoven. They will have to mimic his approach as much as the look of the film. And I don't think that can be done successfully. Paul Verhoven films are uniquely his.

Too much violence for mainstream society today.
