    Doctor Who Frontios talk

    I just finished watching Frontios.

I haven't seen it for some time so it was almost like watching it fresh and new.

I forgot how much I like it.

It's probably one of my favorite Davisons

    What do you think ?

I dunno. I re-watched it back in August and I find it tedious at times. Back and forth, back and forth. Lots of needless running around. It certainly picks up on the idea that where the Doctor goes, he is often regarded as suspicious or a threat until they learn better. They drove that home in Planet of Fire and Caves of Androzoni too. I do like how he finds the TARDIS broken up underground and the Gravis has to re-constitute it. The Gravis are a pretty decent attempt at a creature truly un-human-like. Something they blew in Horns of Nimon and perhaps not done as well since the Fomasi in Leisure Hive and the Terleptils in The Visitation. Some of it still seems dated to me. The fact that it was made in the `80's seems glaringly obvious for some reason. Not just the synthesizer music.

The cut of the clothes and the hair/makup really date the look of the show. The "state of the Budget" effects (thanks Peter Davison for that quote) really age the show

I thought it was kind of strange the Doctor accepted the fact the TARDIS blew up considering he knows IT CAN'T

I always had trouble with just how dated all the fashions like for space uniforms were in the Davison episodes.. Thanks going to Nathan-Turner.

          "JNT, JNT, JNT..."

They really ruined the look of some otherwise-pretty good episodes.
          Peace.. Through Superior Firepower.
