Dr Who and the Silurians - talk

Just watched Doctor Who and the Silurians last night.
I never noticed how much this serial resembles modern day Who's.
    A few examples

    1. The Doctor ratting on UNIT to the Silurians and putting UNIT at risk.

    2. The Doctor being very mad at UNIT for blowing up the Silurians base --- to me this reminded me of Tennant mad at Harriet Jones for blowing up the Sycorax... and, as a viewer from Earth I can relate to both UNITs and Harriet decision over the Doctor's.

I always thought that the current Doctor's peace treaty with the Silurians was directly related to these episodes.

The silurians is an excellent story and it's odd how something made during the early 70's can resonate today. It indicts humanity for our lack of understanding and far driven actions while showing us that we could be better if we try.
