What films do you think should NOT have had sequels?

I almost walked out of that before the beginning credits were finished, but stayed as a test of my mettle. It was like a game of chicken, with my threshold for having my time wasted versus Smith's uninspired (not exactly true, it's obvious it was heavily influenced by The 40 Year Old Vigin [Bollywood numbers, donkey show references]) hackery. The characters of Jay and Bob had went from the fresh voices of the first film to becoming caricatures of themselves. Smith inarguably had raw talent when he started, but it's like he started writing solely for his groupies.Leave a comment:

Technically LOTR is one book and the 3 films should be cinsidered as one movie.
As for sequels that shouldn't have been made: Cars 2, King Kong Lives, and Star Trek.Leave a comment:

Saw. I really didnt see much of a point to the first one, besides the four or so sequels. Just gets pointless....
Final Destination. Same old same old....Leave a comment:

And of course, they have to do a MiB 3. 2's not enough I guess.Teen Wolf - The first was fun, cheesy but fun.
Clerks 2 - Loved the first one more than I can stress and really enjoyed the animated series but the official celluloid sequel showed all too well that Kevin Smith is very far removed from his nights working at the Quik stop
IP Man 2 - the first was a great martial arts / docudrama flick. Made the guy larger than life. The second took away from the legend.
Men In Black 2 - I enjoy it but the sequel is so contrived it takes away from the characters history and personalities that were established in the first one.
Jurassic Park- One was plenty.Leave a comment:

I like JP 2 and 3 ... but then I was rooting for the dinosaurs so what makes them work is people get eaten much soonerTeen Wolf - The first was fun, cheesy but fun.

The first Conan was a great sword and sorcery movie.
But it sucked as a Conan film. Nothing like the source material.
Much like the movie I, Robot was nothing like Asimov's classic book.
The sequel [shudder] was just plain bad.
The new movie is not a remake. They weren't re-doing the first movie.
They were going back to the source material and doing something closer to it.
They didn't nail it. But they did better than the Arnie movie ever did.
Now, as to sequels that should have never been made.
How about Adam's Family Values [shudder]Leave a comment:

Krull wasn't a Disney movie, although I guess it does have that kind of vibe to it in places. With the budget they had and the talented production designers, that movie could have been so much better.KRULL it is really bad (disney i think) star wars meets ivanhoe
The LOTR adaptations are great, IMHO.And this entry will likely get me banned from the boards, but Lord of the Rings was too much.
As a fan of the book, I was really impressed with the way Peter Jackson handled those movies.
A very tough book to adapt to the screen, and he pulled it off with great success.
Come on, it's not that bad! It has some nice matte paintings!Red Sonja. No Comment. No i will comment, possibly the worst film i ever saw.
The Beastmaster, The Sword and the Sorcerer, Dragonslayer, the Conan movies, Excalibur, Deathstalker, Hawk the Slayer... I love all those 80s sword & sorcery flicks!
I never could get into Willow though... that was a misfire.Last edited by Bruce Banner; Sep 8, '11, 4:37 AM.Leave a comment:

I am with you. I read all the Tolken books, actually liked the animated stuff from Rankin Bass in the 70's and early 80's and was a huge Dungeons and Dragons player
I could barely get through the first the ring film (fell asleep twice). never wathced the others
I know many love them. I think the effects did a great job creating the visuals but not for me. But then I hated matrix too which is also a "masterpiece" of sci fi to manyLeave a comment:
