it's almost like he is purposely dumbing it down and taking some the character depth out by adding some of this crap

"What this proves more than anything is: George Lucas is totally f'ing with us."

Yeah. I think he just does it to get people to freak out now. That also says to me that he doesn't value these films at all anymore.

of course he values them, they are still a huge cash cow for him and his companies. what he apparently does not value, is the fan base

I think he DOES value the fans.... but not the old ones. He's realising what a lot of the franchaises we all grew up are: the old fans are getting old, moving on and/or dying off, so you gotta get NEW fans.... and the young punks out there don't like the same sort of stuff the oldsters do. Since you're not gonna please them both, the logical thing is to focus on the expanding bunch; not the dimminishing one.

The big selling point for me with the Blu Rays is the deleted stuff from the original trilogy that will be included as bonus features.

I've always wanted to see the Wampa attack, the Tatooine sandstorm, and good quality footage of the Anchorhead scenes. I'm pretty much buying them just for that.

Sure, I'll watch the newly tinkered with versions of the movies with a sense of interest and some trepidation, but it won't outrage me because I know I've got the original unaltered versions on VHS, Laserdisc and DVD to watch whenever I want to.

So he felt that adding a rock in a scene was necessary?
Lucas really needs to get a hobby or something...
