    Another New Star Trek?

A new series is apparently in the works:

    http://www.slashfilm.com/david-foste...r-trek-series/

But much like the DC reboot, I'm not hearing anything that's making me say "heck yeah!"

I'm a pretty dyed-in-the-wool Trekkie--even loved Enterprise--but there's a lot in that article that makes me think I wouldn't care for it. F.ex., I don't want Trek to be Firefly in uniforms, and Joss Whedon only has one voice, IMO.

I'm sick to death of the Ferengi. They're right up there with the Borg as Trek Aliens I never want to see again.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

I am 100% sick of Joss Whedon’s POV and take on characters. Get someone else. Someone mature and not just some “expert” on whiny teen angst.

I doubt this will get off the ground. I think Paramount is still gun shy with doing anything new with Trek....and with good reason. they milked the franchise almost to death and it was only JJ Abrams breathing something new into it that got things going again

Yeah, I read about this on Trekweb.com...and it seems like to "Next Generaton" to me.

On the other Hand...J.J.Abrams might be open to the idea of producing a a Star Trek series. I'd much rather see J.J. in charge and set in either the "new" trek universe...or the original trek universe.

TrekWeb.com - Interview : Producer Reveals Proposed New Star Trek TV Series Concept Details, New Series Idea Has Not Yet Been Pitched Officially to CBS

P.S. I've got a name for it....CAPTAIN PIKE!! Staring Bruce Greenwood!

Can we just get an Adventures of Commander Shran series starring Jeffery Combs?

I agree. I'm afraid that's what's happening to the Star Wars franchise too but that's up to ole GL.

I would love that, T-Bolt. Shran was pretty much my favorite character on Enterprise. That would really rock if that happened.

This should really disspell almost all hopes about a new series. At least 1/2 what this guy has done is fan stuff:

Jack Trevino has co-written the stories, “Little Green Men,” and “Indiscretion,” for Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. In addition, he has co-written the popular Internet Fan Film, “Star Trek: Of Gods and Men,” as well as, “Starship Farragut: The Needs of the Many.”

A Trek show focusing on an alien ship instead of Federation would be different for a change.

The good news is it's the classic timeline bad news it's after the voyager timeline. WHY oh WHY will they not make a series that occurs in either the post 5 year mission era or the era of films 2-6 (I don't want to see the ST TMP unitard again).

                          Hmmmm....

The press release is pretty much the same generic pap everyone always spews. (Picture it being said by Lindsey Naegle form the Simpsons.) But I'd like to see a new Trek.... emphasis on "NEW." The galaxy is a big place, and I bet cool stuff happens to ships not called "Enterprise." I think setting it after Voyager is a good idea 'cos it lets them do new stuff without bumping up against the old continuity.

I think they can successfully keep making movies based on the current rebooted premise. But a new series? Forget it. The bologna of "harmony" between all interplanetary cultures is a tired and dated premise. It doesn't work for new material anymore.

That seems like a really.... odd.... thing to say. Besides, the Trek universe has all sorts of baddies we haven't seen for a while: Gorn, Tholians, Orions, whatever the heck Trelane was, the entire Delta quadrant, the Kzinti (if they can get the rights). And a Federation ship doesn't HAVE to be predominantly human.... or Terran human. I've always wanted to see a platoon of Iotian Marines on a show: "Alright youse mugs; fall in 'fore I paste 'ya one! Now here's what's gonna happen, see? There's a buncha Romulan crumbums on that there planet, and it's up to us to show 'em what's what. Got me?" If you REALLY want to mix things up, make the Captain of the ship one of them web-fingered guys who thinks politeness is a sign of insincerity and disrespect. (And give him a Bolian First Officer....) The setting already has SO MUCH they haven't touched, so many weird aliens, strage planets, freaky cultures. I would so love to se more of that, rather than "....and there are these alien guys, and they're at war!"
