Yeah.... they were vicious little dudes. I didn't hate 'em either. If a BIG killer teddy bear was fine for two films, little ones are fine too. I think the real hate came after the film, when instead of the continuing adventures of Han Solo we got Ewoks, Ewoks Ewoks.

Early? He died around 1991-3 years prior to the 30th anniversary to The Cage, 5 years prior to the anniversary of TOS. The 6th film was coming out, Next Gen was ending to go to feature production and DS9 was prepped to go. He was like 80. He was a generation behind Lucas.

Mike, you must read The Unauthorized Bio of GR someday. Check the Library. That guy used and abused so many people in the industry. Devotees defend him to the last but he was no saint. He probably isn't even the real creator Star Trek - TOS as we know it. It' all propaganda man.

And at the end... the drummer Ewok banging on the imperial helmets...

How much do you want to bet the heads were still IN the helmets?

AFTER HE AND HIS FAMILY ATE THE REST OF THE BODIES!

Ewoks are like furry forest piranhas!

The Ewoks didn't need the Rebels' help in ridding themselves of the imperial forces on their moon. The Rebels needed THEIR help. The Ewoks were like the Vietcong. Without the Rebels being there, they would have slowly picked off stormtroopers one by one and ATE THEM.
        funny observation!

I've never disliked the Ewoks. My friends all hate them.

Good. Use your aggressive feelings, boy. Let the hate flow through you.

Myself - I didn't care for ewoks either and as far as them protecting themselves it was silly. does anyone really buy it that the diminutive creatures with primitive weapons would really be able to do what they did? c'mon - rocks hurtled at armored troopers hurt? what were their helmets made out of?

i find most people born in the 60s did not like them. for late 70's kids they seem to go over well sinc they were young enough to excuse the ridiculousness of the situation.

it was supposed to be wookies but by then tehy had made chewie too advanced technologicaly speaking. holiday special affected the choice as well i believe.

Thinking about it all, my only real beef with the new trilogy is the whole midichlorian thing or however you spell that nonsense. As a kid is was fun for me to think that may one day, ONE DAY I could study the mysteries of the universe and discover the Force myself. With the Force now being derived from a genetic flaw or blood disease it takes away almost ALL of the mystery of the concept.

Oh yeah, and Padme being ELECTED Queen? That is worse than ANY line from an Ed Wood flick IMO.

Jim you nailed it right there. What is the force? In E1-Phantom Menace we are told the force is the result of some semi-sentient blood parasite. Mystery killed and stomped on and kicked into the sewer forever! Notice no mention is made of it again in E2 & E3? They knew it was a garbage explanation and stopped using it.

I also propose an alternate to this "Queen" Amidala thing. She obviously had a clone in E1. Why not have the clone killed dramatically in E1 or E2 and put the real queen into hiding until Anakin/Vader kills her in E3? Have a new queen ascend the throne in E2? We know Queen's are not elected! Use a different title even! Where did the queen's double go anyway? She is not seen or heard past E1. When Padme` is killed by Anakin the double could have raised Luke & Leia in hiding. Sloppy writing all around in these films.

Well, the midichlorians weren't created to "explain" the Force as such, they were just a device to explain why some beings were able to feel and use the Force whereas others were not. They simply allow beings to tap into and feel the Force.

So the Force itself is still that mysterious, unexplained energy field which we love from the original movies.

The medichlorian scene was one of the several moments watching that movie where I thought to myself "why am I watching this?".

I forgot it was suppose to be a blood parasite - how is it inheritable from your father then?

I guess it could be passed via intercourse to the mother so that her pregnant children could get it. Is that it? Using the force is caused by venereal disease? Magical!

And that's why Luke was such a lonely and angry farm boy. Man you know Han would be pretty ticked off after the end of Jedi. All that hassle he went through just to end up with the intergalactic clap "No reward is worth this!"
