    Harry Potter 7.2 (Spoiler Free)

Saw this yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed it.

I had read the books so have a working knowledge of the overall story, I'd be interested to hear what the more casual observers have to say about it though.

How about we keep this spoiler free for the moment too.

One cool thing was the 3D glasses, they were Harry Potter-style round-frame glasses in a nifty little pouch, check it out:

Here is a question. Is worth paying extra to go see it 3-D or just see it in normal theatrical version?

Apart from a couple of scenes I'd say that the 3D is superfluous, the 2D version would be just as enjoyable IMO.

Would you like to trade those glasses for something?

I don't think Harry Potter is released in the U.S until this Friday so you might have to wait until after the weekend from those of us on the other side of the world.

I kinda wish some of the pervious HP films were split in 2 parts so they could've covered more material.

They could do that with most books but it creates a bit of a conundrum. We watched Deathly Hallows pt. 1 the other day to gear up for pt. 2 and I realized again that it just left you hanging right in the middle of the plot and waiting another year to see the ending. I do think the series as a whole was pretty true to the books and although J.K. Rowling was a master of developing minor characters; I could see how it could easily become confusing to someone who had never read the series. I'm sure two obvious slap in your face details in the book series that are shown in the movie but probably fly right over the head of most people who haven't read the series are that every book starts right around the beginning of the school year (obvious) but also Harry Potter's birthday (not so obvious). Secondly, that there is a new Defense Against The Dark Arts Teacher every single year. Those who have read the book understand why but probably not so obvious in the movies and maybe not even something that might have been noticed by someone who has only seen the movies and not the books wondering.....hmmm..."why is there a new Defense Against the Dark Arts" teacher every single year?

                Those are NICE 3D glasses!

My theater has something similar but they're more of a cheap plastic kind in the HP style. We only got enough to give out to the midnight show crowd.

Yeah the quality is really surprising, I got them at the Aussie premiere so I 'm not sure whether they will be what everyone ends up with at regular 3D screenings. And sorry Wolfie, they are already spoken for.

re: recap, I did the same thing. I watched Part 1 before the screening, and I'm glad I did since the "recap" at he start of Part 2...

                  (******POSSIBLE MILD SPOILER ALERT!!!********)

...consists of the last ten seconds of Part 1. If you are at all fuzzy about Part 1 I would recommend watching it before heading off to Part 2.

I have never had the desire to see Harry Potter flicks at the movies...but I do eventually watch them on DVD...so I'll wait when Netflix has it.

The wife's insisting we go to the midnight show tonight. I like Harry Potter well enough, but I guess it's cool that something gets her Girl Geek on (besides sexy vampires). I'm assuming there will be people in costumes and what-not.

I love Harry Potter and everything but will wait until this weekend mid day to see it. If I didn't have to come into work; I'd be into a midnight showing. No spoilers please until after the weekend.

saw it at the drive in last night. great movie. really ended the series well. it's sort of like the end of an era. these movies have become such a huge part of pop culture.

I saw it yesterday. I find going to the very first show on a friday is usually the best way to go because most people are at work or plan to go to the 7pm show. I enjoyed it as much as I did all the rest. I've read all the books and didn't like the Very ending. I was hoping it wouldn't be in the movie too but it was. I'll continue to ignore that ever happened.

Good end to the series. I don't know why I was so shocked that a midnight Thursday show filled up at least five huge theaters uptown with mostly packs of teenage girls dressed in inappropriately scant wizard/schoolgirl outfits. I can only imagine what the downtown shows would have been like with even more hordes.

Between the girlish shrieking, inane chatter in the ridiculously long concessions stands and getting my foot stomped on as they hurtled back and forth dozens of times in and out of my aisle, I was absolutely shocked how much I was missing the company of overweight balding middle aged men wearing batman t-shirts and lacking in deodorant and social skills (which was the wife's complaint at the much less crazy Green Lantern opening... Which was her accomadation to me)
