Transformers III now being pummeled by critics...

Currently sitting at 33%. Jeez. Perhaps people will ignore the critics this time and just have fun like they should have with Lantern. It's hard to understand what critics are looking for in sci-fi films when you read they're assessment. I guess they need meaning in their lives for fantasy? From what I have seen in the trailer, it looks like a fun ride. There should at least be an expectation by now since it comes from the same creative team as the past two films. Hard to understand why critics keep looking for the hidden novel where there shouldn't be one. It's kind of like going to a slasher film and complaining about the mindless violence. Really? You have to ask yourself what chance does Captain America have now? Critics buried Lantern, then snarled at Cars 2, now they hate Transformers 3. Will audiences be too jaded to check out Captain America? I hope not.

I already have my ticket for tonight and I can't wait. Critics are morons and rotten tomatoes is too busy trying to be trendy. A sequel by it's nature will not have much plot it's a fomula. So long as I see robots changing forms and good robot brawls that's all I need

Transformers also gets backlash from those who hate the concept as a toy film and those who feel Bay betrays their G1 image of transformers

kind of like Jurrasic park 2 and 3 sure they had no plot but people got eaten by dinos even faster.

I'm a big fan of the Transformers toys and cartoons and even with Peter Cullen voicing Prime, I could not make it through the first Transformers movie.

You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

I walked out about 10 minutes before the end of the first Transformers movie. It showed no signs of ending and a didn't care who won.

So very true Mike. I forgot Bay was responsible for that garbage.

I don't think anyone's perception of Transformers is going to be changed by what a critic thinks. People know the brand, and unless the Transformers people have all gone mad they're going to deliver what people expect. 2+ hours of robots exploding things with a bit of comedy and cheesecake tossed in.

I think the main thing that hurt Green Lantern is that people didn't know the brand, and the marketing and promotion of the film didn't help them understand it. Almost none of my friends are comic guys - and I got TONS of questions about Green Lantern from people based on the ads. They just didn't get it.

If critics loved it - like "Iron Man" - maybe that would have helped GL - but that's hard to say. There's plenty of movies critics generally like that audiences ignore too.

Transformers 2 ranks among the worst movies I've ever seen. I'm not sure if I want to see this one but everyone I know keeps telling me "it should be way better." I was going to go tonight since I'm off work but I'm soooo tired from my day I just don't care.

Anything will be better than part 2. I'm not surprised about critics though. I don't really care about what they say.Their tastes aren't in line with what I consider a great movie.

I have issues with critics, but of all of the films and franchises to lambast critics over, the Michael Bay Transformers films are not the ones. They are horrible. I like good action films. I like Alien, Aliens, Terminator, Terminator 2, Die Hard, Predator, Spider-Man and tons of others. The Michael Bay Transformers films are crap. It has nothing to do with turning one’s “brain off” and loosening up. Michael Bay makes genuinely crappy films and has hit right note only once or twice.

It’s also pretty sad people equate sci-fi with crap. Because sci-fi is like any genre: It can be good or bad. And Michael Bay makes crap films. Kind of like how there was an awesome Spider-Man film made by Sam Raimi and now there is a wretched musical that nobody I know cares about.

If they put the Autobot Twins in this one I will boycott it forever, but if not I'll give it a chance. Not since Jar Jar Binks had there been such annoying characters in a movie, CGI or otherwise. The second one was pretty bad to begin with, but they almost made it unwatchable.

^ I read somewhere there was a scene filmed with the Twins but it didn't makle the cut.

I'll go see it. I don't put much stock in reviews since the ones reviewing are just ordinary people.

I think it looks OK, not blow away good, not horrible just good enough to be worth the price of admission. Which when awful movies come out regularly you couldn't pay me to watch is good enough for me.

We're watching it tomorrow. If the kids have a blast, I'm good. I expected to fall asleep watching Cars 2, but I was pleasantly surprised. If I have little or no expectation, then I won't be disappointed. If anything, I can get an expensive nap out of it.
