Genesis of the Daleks - talk

Was watching Genesis of the Daleks last night.

I've seen it before but a thought crossed my mind yesterday.

Did the Doctor actually accomplish anything at the end ?

He said he put off Dalek evolution for about a 1000 years.

I wonder if he actually did ? ... Is the Doctor lying to not make himself look bad ?

The Daleks time-line seems to have not changed at all after Genesis ...

    What do you think ?

It might be a bit harsh to say, but, he should have crossed the wires.

McCoy wouldn't have given it a second thought.

He would have crossed the wires in less than a second and been out of there

I would have crossed the wires in no time.

Maybe he did, for a while at least. The Daleks have time travel technology, and can muck about as well.

He should have crossed the wires. The Daleks have been responsible fot too much crap. Even the destruction of the Timelords.

Funny thing though; they may have been resopnsible for a lot of good as well. Back in the original timeline the galaxy united against them during the "Cyberwars;" and the Daleks DID turn on their Cyberman allies, almost wiping them out and delaying their advancement. (It's been theorized that the Cybermen could one day develop time travel as well.)

Well, the Doctor did say at the end of GOTD that from the evil of the Daleks something good must eventually come... but I don't know if the galaxy's seen that "good" yet, or if it ever will, or even what it might be. Maybe it was delaying the Cybermen's advancement, or perhaps it will be something else entirely

I've actually read commentary on this (sad, I know) and it was pointed out that the Doctor hadn't actually accomplished anything (the same point has been made about Indy in Raiders).

I probably would have crossed the wires too. Also, although a great episode, it introduced us to Davros. I thought he was terrific in Genesis, but almost every Dalek episode after had to feature Davros.

I think Eccelston would have too.
