I went to a swapmeet up in Ballarat awhile back and a guy had a naked, broken Batman and he was trying to sell it for $15. I wouldn't pay that amount for something like that. You should really try Australian ebay, there are a few good auctions on at the moment.

I bought a Remco energized spiderman on the same day in Rosebud.

That's OK. I still haven't seen Star Wars, and lots of other big films.

Planet of the Apes isn't just a series of films, nor part of popular culture, it's an obsession... Not sure how old you are, but I'm assuming you're an adult, so even as brilliant as those films are, they probably will not have the same effect on you as they would had you seen them when you were a kid. The nostalgic aspect of seeing the mego commercials, the TV series, and all the toys and stuff, is a huge part of the mythos for me and many others here. You should definitely see the films, but it's kinda sad that you waited this long. They just won't have the same effect. Those films, much like Star Wars, need to be discovered through a child's eyes...

Sandy--you are so right. The major impact is seeing it as a child. I know that the magic of Star Wars is gone for me now. How tragic.

Now just a second. I wasn't into POTA as a kid. My dad had the series on one night, and I just wasn't into it. I got into it as an adult when the Sci-Fi Channel first aired it. Then I gave the series a chance and loved it. Now I'm really into the apes. So I don't think you have to have seen it as a kid to really appreciate it.

I was never a HUGE Planet of the Apes fan, but I must admit the first movie is a MUST SEE for EVERYBODY and ANYBODY.

Without a doubt it's the 60's Star Wars

... the rest of the Apes movies are "ok" but not MUST SEE's

You might want to stop and think cause this is how it starts.

You have to see the Movie.....
I remembered watching the movie and TV series as a child and loving it. When the movie was released on VHS, I bought them all. Shortly after, the whole Ebay thing got going. I bought a single Dr Zaius mego. Then I bought all the rest, playsets, pieces, Curtis magazines( all of them), both card sets, comic books, lobby cards, movie posters, stamps, original metal/wood printers block for theatre flyers, power records, autographed photo's, Hasbro figures, inkwerks cards, novels of movies, and TV series(even # 4) and animated series complete. bootleg TV series on VHS..........
Then they released the DVD's, bought them all, Tv series on DVD...got it....animated series, yup....
Oh Yeah, then the new movie came out and i overpaid for all the new stuff too. Did i mention making costumes and going ape to every party from then on.

Now the Blu-ray, I'm trying to hold out but I think I'm gonna break.
And another new movie about to be released!!!!!!

On second thought, DO NOT SEE THIS MOVIE!!!!!!!

Does this situation sound familiar to anyone else, or am i all alone out here?

                        Go APE!

Sandy, you are the poet laureate of Ape City.

Seeing talking apes with guns as a five-year-old was mind-blowing. To me at that age, no one was cooler than Cornelius and Mr. Spock.
