Super 8

Couple of the video editors here at work went to see it last night and give it 4.5 out 5. Apparently it's really is a throwback to Spielberg style late 70's and early 80's feel. Kinda like Close Encounters meets ET style.
Of the guys inadvertently told me what the thing is that escapes from the train but based on all the clips we processed lately, I'm not surprised.
They said it's definitely a boys teen movie from the late 70's so very much looking forward to this one.

Ok...just got back...

It's really a throwback to the Spielberg suburban flicks of the 70s.

It's set in the 70s obviously...and I think just about everybody in here is gonna love all the 70s goodies like classic rock, disco, posters on the wall, model built ups, muscle cars...and of course...the Super 8 film camera that we all played with as kids...lol.

I'd say Super 8 is a cross between E.T., Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Cloverfield...and The Goonies.

The special-effects are superb.

The acting is solid...especially the kids.

It's a standard sci-fi movie...not the most original...but it's a fun ride...great popcorn Summer flick.

I won't get much more into it...I don't wanna spoil anything...a solid Abrams and Spielberg flick.

Having said that...my favorite Summer movie is still X-Men First Class.
