Just got back from watching "Stranger Tides" and I have to say I have no idea what the critics are whining about. If your a fan of the previous movies, you will enjoy this one just as much. On thing is for sure...you'll never look at Mermaids the same way again! Very imaginative approach to that concept. Story-wise I didn't find any retreat from the quality of past films. It was rich in exploring old myths. This time is was about the Fountain of Youth and the Mermaids connection to it. Johnny Depp is hilarious as ever in the lead role as Jack Sparrow and Black Beard plays a pivotal role in this story as well. I won't spoil the finale for those interested in seeing it. But it's safe to say based on the early business it is getting, this film will do just as well as previous efforts. Just one of our theaters had it playing simultaneously in five screens and at the time of our showing at 7:55, we were the only screen not sold out yet. When the house lights went down it looked like it was close to capacity. I would say if you found the previous movies entertaining you should see this one as well. We saw the 2-D version. These days I am not interested in the 3D gimmick. It never lives up to the extra dough you have to pay.

Ive heard good reviews as well, apparently Cruz steals the show. Ill go and see it in 2D as well. -
