Did anyone get a Doctor Who minifig with their newspaper?

    alas. Only in the UK.

They gave millions of these Lego-compatible Doctor Who figures from Character Building away with the Daily Mirror and the Daily Record newspaper this past week.

I never could understand the appeal of these kinds of figures.

I never could understand those that didn't get the appeal of these kinds of figures. Every kid I know these days is hugely into Lego.

Tiny figures that fit in a kids pocket (check before you do the laundry) that are portable enough to carry around and play in the car or a restaurant.

Mix and match pieces to make your own goofy versions (Doctor torso with Cyberman head and Silurian legs)

            Plus... LEGO!

Make your own Tardis, spaceships, etc that the little Lego style figures can interact with using their Lego compatible plugs.

It's the interactivity and play value of this stuff where the fun lies.

I got a Doctor Who minifig on my paper this morning... but it doesn't look anything like the picture. It's kinda lumpy and brown and smells bad and when I tried to move it's body, it snapped in half (quality of plastics has really been going downhill lately)... but it looks just like an old school Doctor Who monster.

how are there thousands when the promo lists each as limited to such and such number...by my count there should only be 1300 figures out there

Those figures are great. I noticed Underground actually ran some Dr. Who toy commercials for the first time in the US. Pretty neat.
